ABSTRACT

Rumbiak, Julio Eiffelt Rossaffelt. 2011. Epidemic level of  leaf blight bacterial caused by Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. allii on shallot (Allium ascalonicum) in Bengkulu Province. Thesis. Agriculture faculty. Andalas University. Padang. Indonesia

The research epidemic level of leaf blight bacterial was caused by Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. allii on shallot (Allium ascalonicum. L) in Bengkulu province has been conducted in shallot central production, Microbiology Laboratorium and Green House of Plant Pest Diseases Department, Agriculture Faculty, Andalas University among February and July 2010. The aims of this research are to measure the epidemic level of Xanthomonas axonopodis pv.allii caused leaf blight bacterial on shallot production center in Bengkulu Province.

This reseach was arranged by survey method and descriptive analitic in laboratorium. Sample were taken with Stratified Purposive Sampling technique and locations were chosen in Rejang Lebong District which center production of shallot at Bengkulu Province. Each shallot fields, 50 samples had been chosen by using diagonal as guidelines and from this field samples had been taken shallot samples including shallot tuber, leaf and soil that predicted contamination by Xaa with symptoms were appearances. Monitoring on this samples were percentage and intensity level and identifying such as morphology and physiology of Xaa

The result indicated that Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. allii as causing agent of Leaf Blight bacterial had spread with variation against level between 32,27 % – 46,89 % of Percentage and 23,92 % – 41,006 % of Intensity. 4 bacteria isolates (BURL,BURRL,SKRL,BRRL) had been isolated from shallot with symptom appearances on leaf in Rejang Lebong District, Bengkulu Province Bengkulu as central production shallot, showed the similarity with morphology and physiology of Xaa.

Key Words : Xaa, Stratified Purposive Sampling, Percentage and Intensity level.
